  • Description: Offers a program in which families build their homes in groups of five to nine under the supervision of CHIP's construction staff. Each household dedicates at least 30 hours per week in labor towards building their new homes and helping each other during the process. All homes in a group must be finished before moving in. No construction experience is necessary.

  • Eligibility: Income that falls at or below 80% of the Area Median Income for the area and must also demonstrate repayment ability. Acceptable credit is necessary but perfect credit is not required. Must be a first time home buyer, and must plan to occupy the home as their primary residence. Participants must also attend group meetings and work cooperatively with other participants.
